Olympic Village costs will now be paid by the UK taxpayer

The government admitted yesterday that the £1.1 billion Olympic Village for the 2012 Olympic Games in London will now be paid for by the taxpayer after all private sector offers were turned down.

Two years ago the government claimed that the private sector would pay for the entire project.

The British Olympic Association made a £1.5m loss last year and needed the organising committee for London 2012 to step in, the BBC has learned.

Where does the organising committee get this kind of money? No doubt it will now sneak back to Mummy Jowell and do it's impression of Oliver Twist!!
