Super League XIV 2009 - The story so far

16 Super League XIV games have been played so far this season, 2009, and so far there have been a few shock results along the way.Celtic Crusaders, the Welsh newcomers, finally had their first win of the season against Bradford Bulls and recorded their second last weekend against Wigan Warriors.

The Bulls have had a particulary bad run so far and have been beaten by teams that last year they would have won in second gear. They did win against Warrington Wolves last weekend though so it may be the start of a good middle season but you never can tell!

St Helens are again at the top of the table with a 4 point lead over Leeds Rhinos who seem to have hit a wall at the moment. Saints have played some incredible rugby along the way and have shown they are a class above the rest so far. Then again, it all comes down to the Grand Final and St Helens seem to have come unstuck in that final game over the past few years.

Hull KR and Harlequins RL are a surprising 3rd and 4th in the table respectively. Rugby League really does have a way of breaking all the rules regarding who should be beating who and it will make for an exciting run up to see who finishes in the top 6 for a place in the pay-offs.

Salford City Reds and Celtic Crusaders are at the bottom of the table so far and I can't really see them doing much better to be honest but they have a 3 year licence so can't be relegated which will give them both a chance to build up a strong team. We will have to wait until the end of the season anyway to see how it all pans out.

There have been some absolutely fantastic matches shown on Sky Sports and my favourite so far has been Bradford Bulls v Catalans Dragons. The Dragons came back from 26 - 0 down in the first half to win impressively and it was a great game to watch as a neutral.

Am looking forward to watching many more games and seeing who can seperate the men from the boys.
