Last year one evening, I experienced a once in a lifetime opportunity to investigate a location with one of my investigating groups I work with. The location was a closed down hospital and I have always wanted to do one of these; unfortunately we were unable to stay there overnight but the few hours we did have, certainly was a very interesting experience!
Our first location we were taken to was the Mortuary; it felt ok there and was quiet although a couple of people felt uncomfortable and someone felt the presence of a spirit.
We next visited the buildings where the nurses stayed; after a period of time, the group left to move on, leaving three of us still in the building. We stood for a little while, and although various noises were heard due to temperature of the building changing, we did hear the sound of footsteps walking along the corridor above us. I know that there were only 3 of us in the building; we were all on the ground floor and nobody was upstairs!
We then moved onto the psychiatric ward! Really loved this from a psychological point of view! We were allowed to go into the padded cell where you could still see the remains of dried blood and lots of scratches on the walls. It was quite strange when the door was shut and the light went off! It certainly unnerved a few people. Looking at the walls in the padded cell, I couldn't even begin to comprehend how people were feeling.
The group then split into two and we went to visit various wards around the hospital. In one of the wards, we were told by security that they had seen a wheelchair move of it's own accord when they were patrolling! Sadly that didn't happen for us that night as much as I wanted it to! In another of the wards, I was with 2 other investigators conducting a seance when we heard the sound of running water within the room yet the sink was bone dry when we went to check!
After the wards, we all went to investigate the theatres. Another investigator and I walked on ahead of the rest of the group as we just couldn't wait to visit them! In theatre 4, both of us felt quite nauseus and neither of us could stay in there yet we had visited the other theatres and we both felt fine. The corridors to the theatres had quite a spooky feel about them, especially when the doors automatically opened because of the sensors!
All in all, it was a very interesting; several of the more sensitive members of the group picked up on various spirits and various noises that couldn't be explained. I would really love to be able to get the chance to go back there as I do believe it does warrant further investigation but unfortunately, I think this was a complete one off and we won't be able to go back for reasons beyond our control, and therefore, I am delighted to have been able to have the opportunity I had.
