Carry On Team - Hattie (Harriet) JacquesHattie was born in Sandgate, Kent in 1924 and was educated at the Godolphin and Latymer schools. She trained as a hairdresser and served in the 2nd world war in the Red Cross and, later, in a factory in London. Her big break was on radio, in Hancock's Half Hour, playing the part of Miss Pugh - and Agatha Danglebody in Educating Archie. Her Carry On roles were:- Captn Clark in Sergeant..Matron in Nurse..Grace Short in Teacher..Sergeant Laura Moon in Constable..Sister in Regardless..Peggy Hawkins in Cabby..Matron in Doctor..Miss Haggerd in Camping..Matron in Again Doctor..Sophie Bliss in Loving..Beattie Plummer in At Your Convenience..Matron in Matron..Floella in Abroad and Martha Hoggett in Dick. She was married to John Le Mesurier (Sergeant Wilson in Dad's Army) for several years and had 2 sons together. She died suddenly in 1980 at the very young age of 56. |

She was an excellent actress, and although, quite a large lady, very attractive.....
I believe she had a liaison with Tony Hancock.....
And she was very convincing playing Eric Sykes sister in 'Sykes'.....
