Carry On Team - Hattie (Harriet) Jacques

Hattie was born in Sandgate, Kent in 1924 and was educated at the Godolphin and Latymer schools. She trained as a hairdresser and served in the 2nd world war in the Red Cross and, later, in a factory in London.

Her big break was on radio, in Hancock's Half Hour, playing the part of Miss Pugh - and Agatha Danglebody in Educating Archie.

She was married to John Le Mesurier (Sergeant Wilson in Dad's Army) for several years and had 2 sons together. She died suddenly in 1980 at the very young age of 56.
