Evil under the SunHercule Poirot collapses at the dinner table and his doctor determines he is too obese and sends him off for a break in Devon to recover. Evil under the Sun was filmed in the 1980s with Peter Ustinov as Poirot, setting the film in the Mediterranean. The new version is set in Burgh Island, where Agatha Christie wrote the novel. Louise Delamere plays Arlena Stewart with the accent of the late Princess Diana - until she is found murdered on a nearby beach. Captain Hastings and Chief Inspector Japp return in this version although they do not appear in the book. Watch out for some curious continuity where the director appears not to have noticed the tides. |
