Lewis: Music To Die ForOne of the characters in this episode of Lewis was called Richard Helm, a name similar to that of an infamous CIA director. And so episode was about spies - or at least Stasi agents. Although Richard Helm is supposedly a German he speaks with a South African accent. How come none of the production team spotted that? Or figured out that that the brief contact his father had with an English policeman would not have raised much interest at Stasi headquarters? And what was the accent of the guy playing the German showing Hathaway around the old Stasi files in Berlin? Certainly not German. At least Cheryl Campbell could do a reasonable German accent. She should have taught the others. The Lewis series continues with the style of the old Morse episodes with long languid shots of boating in the river but the plots, the scripts, the casting and the direction need a lot more attention. |
