London Olympics aquatics centre costs rocket againThe cost of the swimming pool block for the London Olympics, pompoussly known as the aquatics centre just keeps rocketing. It was promised originally at a jaw-breaking £75 million. In November 2007 it was admitted that costs for the aquatics centre, were likely to double. In January 2008, the cost estimate was jacked up again to almost triple the original estimate. Not content with that, the cost overruns have continued and the block is now estimated to cost £242 million, 3.2 times the original estimate. |
