Foyle's War - Broken Souls

ITV1 continued the interrupted screening of the final series of Foyle's War last night, picking up an audience of 7.1 million.

Simon Shaps, ITV director of television, was responsible for bringing the series to a premature end. Fortunately he will be replaced and it is rumoured ITV now want Anthony Horowitz to write some more episodes for Foyle. As the series features VE Day in the next episode the series will presumably have to be renamed and take place after the war.

There are thousands of Poles in the UK now and most TV viewers will know how they speak. Why didn't ITV find one of them to play Josef Novak in this episode?

Michael Kitchen could not even get excited in this episode when he won the football pools after deciding that Arsenal would not be good enough to beat Port Vale. He gave most of the winnings to charity.

Hastings witnessed another couple of murders during this episode in which the loonies had taken over the local asylum. Sam Stewart was given her first opportunity to resolve a police enquiry - but didn't spot the old codger played by Graham Crowden was not telling her the truth. Now what would Sam Stewart have looked like if she had lived in the 21st century?
