Tarot Cards

Tarot is a set of cards (around 78 cards in a pack) with pictures and symbols on them used in divination and fortune telling.

The cards are split into the Major Arcana and Minor Arcana. There are 22 Major Arcana and 56 Minor Arcana cards; the Major Arcana have images on them of which most of them are people and represent matters of relevant importance. Examples of such cards include The Devil, The World, The High Priestess and Justice. The Minor Arcana consists of 4 suits (wands, cups, pentacles and swords) and relate to everyday matters.

The suits in the Minor Arcana are akin to a set of playing cards - Wands (Clubs), Pentacles (Diamonds), Cups (Hearts) and Swords (Spades); there are 14 cards in each suit and the numbers are from Ace to King.

When people are given readings, the cards are dealt into spreads. Examples of spreads include Celtic Cross, Five Card Spread and The Eclipse Spread.

I have a pack of Rider-Waite cards which are wrapped up in a special cloth; I really would like to learn how to read the cards as I have always found them fascinating.

Aces

The Aces are my favourite cards in a pack. I just really like them and they are very positive when in the upright position. They just make my day if I see them.

Also, the four of rods/wands in any position is a lovely card to get in a reading. It's the only card that doesn't change meaning when reversed normally.

Good luck with it all hun and you will get there in the end. Practice makes perfect :)

I only really know what 2

I only really know what 2 cards mean - World and Death (the last one shouldn't be that much of a surprise to anyone who knows me well enough).
I have tried to learn the cards in the past but each time I've tried to learn, it's like something has blocked me from learning it, if that makes sense. I just put it down to not being the right time. As for suits, always been drawn to pentacles; ironic as my favoured suit in a normal pack of playing cards is diamonds..............

Thank you hun :)

Card meanings

The World upright is a lovely card. It means success, abundance, fulfillment etc. If you are going through a difficult time it usually means you will be fine and will know what to do for the best. Reversed means you are stuck in a rut but is still ok really as there is a lot of promise that things can be resolved if you put the effort in.

Death is always a card that scares people thanks to dodgy horror films lol. The normal meaning, but not always, is a massive change is going to occur. Something will die, so to speak, and something will be reborn from it. It CAN signify a death but most tarot readers won't actually tell you that.

Agree with that; when I have

Agree with that; when I have had readings in the past, I have always managed to draw the death card lol. Never concerned me as I used to see the sun in the background first which made me feel there was light at the end of the tunnel so to speak.....

I have got a little bedtime reading; got the Tarot Bible to have a gander at.
Plenty of information in there to get my head round :)
