The Witch's Tools!

As part of our workings, various tools can be used by witches if they so wish.
Below is a list of some of the items used.

• Altar
• Athame (blade)
• Bell
• Besom (Broomstick)
• Book of Shadows – a witch’s workbook!
• Cauldron
• Chalice
• Pentacle
• Wand

Altar – wooden table or shelf which has to be big enough to work on and must be facing North or East. The altar can be decorated but this is personal choice.

Athame – this is knife with a dark handle which is used to raise and invoke energy. It is NOT used to cut anything other than air!

Bell – used to invoke deities and ward off evil spirits.

Besom – can be used to sweep the area before setting up the altar and commencing rituals.

Book of Shadows – personal record of all workings including rituals and spells, and is generally handwritten.

Cauldron – can be used for scrying.

Chalice – used for the ritual drink!

Pentacle – symbol of protection; the points represent each element of Earth, Wind, Fire and Water, and Self.

Wand – made of wood which is used to invoke, and raise energy.
