Athame – this is knife with a dark handle which is used to raise and invoke energy. It is NOT used to cut anything other than air!

Besom - another name for the broomstick!

Coven - group of witches!

Book of Shadows – personal record of all workings including rituals and spells, and is generally handwritten.

Chalice – cup used for the ritual drink and can be made from either wood, stone, metal or glass!

Circle - sacred working space of the witch.

Deity - God/Goddess

Deosil - clockwise

Elements - earth, wind, fire, water and spirit.

Esbat – meetings at Full Moon

Handfasting – Pagan wedding

High Priest/High Priestess – leader(s) of the Coven

Initiation – 3 levels and confirming your commitment to the faith.

Pagan – Wicca, Druids and Heathens are examples of Pagan religion

Pathworking – form of guided meditation

Rites – part of a ritual

Ritual – several rites put together

Sabbat – Festival; there are 8 Sabbats in the year.

Wand – made of wood which is used to invoke, and raise energy.
