The X Files

The X Files was a US drama show which started in 1993 and ran for 9 years. The show starred David Duchovny as Fox Mulder and Gillian Anderson as Dana Scully who investigated unsolved cases of paranormal phenomena and other such conspiracy theories undercover within the Government.

I couldn't get into the show no matter how many times I tried to watch it.
The only thing I liked about it was the theme tune!!

The truth is out there!

Top show

I rate this as the best TV series ever made. The production standards were higher than most productions made for TV and were equivalent to Hollywood movie standards. The acting was exceptional right throughout the nine series.

There were several types of shows:

- The one-off paranormal investigations
- The one-off comedy shows played for laughs
- The so-called mythology shows - about five or six in each 22 or 23-show season - in which Mulder and Scully investigate what looks like an extraterrestrial invasion of Earth protected by a group of conspirators who have a hold on high US government officials. This was the most complicated feature of the series and you had to watch the mythology shows in sequence to follow the plot successfully.

The series producer Chris Carter maintained the high production values, stopped attempts to take the show down-market by eg introducing an overt Mulder/Scully romance and ensured the series was plot driven right the way through.
