ITV1 screens the third film from series 11 this Sunday at 9pm. Zoe Wanamaker returns as Ariadne Oliver again in this episode.
A young woman visits Hercule Poirot to seek his help regarding a murder that she believes herself to have committed. She is upset to see how old he is and leaves without telling her story.
The charm of the early series of Agatha Christie Poirot has gradually been lost as captain Hastings and Inspector Japp have been written out of the script to be replaced by the dry butler, George. This is certainly the darkest of the series so far.
There is no reason why a new set of Poirot films with a new actor should not be dark and moody but it is strange to change the style from charming to arty and then to dark with David Suchet continuing to play the lead role. ITV have just taken too long to get through the series. But that's what you get with too many soaps and not enough dramas.
