New South Wales is home to the largest and perhaps the most recognisable city in Australia. First discovered by Captain James Cook in 1770, Sydney has fast became the premier city in Australia. Not only is it the oldest settlement in Australia, it is also the hub for entertainment, cultural and sporting events nation wide. Home of two major cities, Sacramento and San Francisco, northern California is a world away from the beaches, flipflops and celebrities of southern California. A late flourish from Australia led them to their first ever victory in a World Cup Finals tournament. All three goals came from substitutes, with Everton midfielder Tim Cahill scoring two, and John Aloisi scoring the other in injury time. Japan had gone ahead in the 26th minute through a contraversial free kick, scored by Shunsuke Nakamura.
