Trinidad & TobagoEngland left it late to secure a win in their second game of the tournament against Caribbean minnows Trinidad and Tobago. For 80 minutes, the Caribbean side had England fans feeling very nervous, in what was a disappointing display from England up to that point. A header from Peter Crouch and an excellent long range effort from Steven Gerrard were enough to book England’s place in the second round of the tournament. Trinidad and Tobago may feel a little hard done by, but they have certainly done themselves proud, and showed a lot of effort, and some may consider them unfortunate to lose the game in the end. England 1-0 Paraguay Around 35,000 England fans gathered inside the Waldstadion in Frankfurt, and thousands more gathered in the streets of the city, as England opened their World Cup campaign against Paraguay. These fans left the match satisfied on the whole, as England beat Paraguay by a single goal, despite a nervy and uninspiring second half display. |
