Great BritainTomorrow (Friday) sees the Frontline Test Match between Great Britain and France at Headingley. UK - Animation - BBC 1 - 1975 - 1976 The simple world of simple cartoon creation. 'Here comes Bod', declared John Le Mesurier - and that was effectively it, for nothing particularly eventful happened in the life of this serene, hapless cartoon character in a yellow dress. UK - Situation Comedy - BBC1 - 1977 - 1979 A dramatist encounters problems in his personal and professional life. Gordon Maple is a moody, struggling screenwriter, supplying scripts for feature films that are never actually made, dealing with awkward movie producers who make his life difficult with their niggling demands. Maple is also prone to bouts of writers' block and, to compound the agony, his writer friend Tom Lawrence is altogether more successful. Mabel his Gordon's long-suffering wife. Rumours have been spreading around Whitehall that former England captain, David Beckham, could be about to become knighted in Queen Elizabeth's New Year's honours list. If the 31 year old former England star does get knighted, it would mean his wife, Victoria, will be known as Lady Victoria, and the man himself will be known as Sir David Beckham.
