Miss MarpleITV1 screens the third of the new Julia McKenzie Miss Marple's this evening - both in standard and high definition. Julia McKenzie starred in Murder Is Easy, the second of the three new Agatha Christie's Marple. It was screened at 8pm on Sunday 13th September 2009 on ITV1 in the UK. Julia McKenzie's first outing as Miss Marple was in a remake of A Pocketful of Rye screened on ITV1 on Sunday 6th September 2009. Geraldine McEwan was back for her final outing as Miss Marple on ITV1 on New Year's Day 2009. Julia McKenzie will star as Miss Marple - this time getting written into the Agatha Christie novel Why Didn’t They Ask Evans? It will be a two hour film shown on ITV1. Geraldine McEwan returned for one of her two final appearances as Miss Marple on ITV1 on 3rd August 2008. Julia McKenzie is ITV's new Miss Marple. McKenzie is 66 and played Mrs Forrester in the BBC costume drama Cranford as Mrs Forrester. She replaces Geraldine McEwan in the role. Geraldine McEwan announced her retirement from the role of Miss Marple today. McEwan has played Agatha Christie's Jane Marple since ITV1 brought her back in 2003 and starred in twelve TV films. Ordeal By Innocence is an Agatha Christie novel but Miss Marple doesn't get a mention from the first page to the last. The first of four episodes from series three of Miss Marple starring Geraldine McEwan premières on ITV1 on Sunday evening. |
